White Horse Pub Owners Give $1,000 to CT Food Bank Tuesday, December 28, 2010 WASHINGTON
John Harris, owner of The White Horse, the highly-regarded British-style country pub in Marbledale, and his wife, Lisa, recently presented a check to the Connecticut Food Bank for $1,000. The funds for the donation were generated by the sale of 100 etched glass White Horse ornaments; 100 percent of the proceeds were donated. The gift can provide 3,400 meals for those in need, and the food bank delivers 150 tons per week around the state. Of that, 65 percent goes to small towns. Late last week, Janet Kniffen, the Chief Development Officer of the Connecticut Food Bank, and Rick Reichert, the new Director of Philanthropy, came to the pub from New Haven "to see what we were doing and were thrilled to accept the check," Mr. Harris said.
