How about offering your giftee a drive to a beautiful setting on a river, a sort of mini-vacation, as a gift of a brunch?

Look into the White Horse Country Pub in Marbledale, CT, in the Town of Washington, restored by the new owner this year.

A large stone fireplace creates a warm atmosphere, or there's dining on the deck in good weather. Here you'll find a full English breakfast, fish and chips, and steak and eggs, as well as eggs Benedict and Florentine, French toast, croque monsieur, and tuna Nicose salad.

There are also classic burgers and salads, and a chicken crepe and poached salmon.

Sunday brunch is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The pub is on Route 202 in Marbledale.
